During the month of Ramadan, DU will begin school at 8:45, with students arriving at 8:30, in sha Allah. Please contact the Office if you have any questions...
Daarul Uloom is on Facebook! Like us at https://www.facebook.com/Daarul-Uloom-Islamic-School-1610279575850163/.
Please remember to check your child's folder and return every Monday !!!!!
A few reminders:
Class begins at 8:00 a.m; if your child arrives after 8:05, they may be considered tardy, and they are also missing some of our lessons (review of days, months, seasons and beginning sounds of the alphabet) when they arrive late. DU dismisses at 3:15; if your child is not picked up by 3:30, your child will be sent to the Office to wait for you. Please refer to the DU Handbook Policy. Jazakallahu khyran in advance.
HOT LUNCH :
Hot Lunch will be served on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. If you signed your child up for one, please remember to provide morning & afternoon snacks , along with something to drink, for your child.
***If you feel that your child may not like the Hot Lunch that has been ordered for him/her, please provide an extra snack in their lunchbox also. Jazak Allahu Khayran in advance...
BOB BOOK READING
Alhamdulillah, Collection 3 of our BOB Books has been started by Hafsa S., Haima F., Falak S., Danya E., Khalid M., Ali M., Shiza S., Abdullah Z., Mohammad A., and Ibrahim S ... Collection 2 has been started by Talhah U., Ali K., Hafeezah A., Leena G., Abdul Rahman A., Eliz B., and Hadi H. ... Yusra Y. has completed the Kindergarten Chapter Books, and we have a few others who are just a few books shy of completing Collection 1. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ! ! !
Please remember to return the BOB book daily, in the zip lock bag. Please make sure that no markers, coloring items , or pencils are used in these books. If the book is damaged or lost, there will be a $1 fee to replace it. We are always looking for parents to listen to our class read. Our sign-up sheet for parents (2 per day) is in the lobby on the bulletin board, Principal's Corner, to help our class with reading their books, on Monday- Thursday , from 2-3pm.
***VOLUNTEERING FOR BOB READING COUNTS TOWARDS YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURS ! ! ! ! ! ***
On Mondays, in sha Allah, we will send homework (Language Arts and Math) home with your child, which will be due back on Friday, in sha Allah. Don't worry... it will not be graded. It's just extra help for your child, to reinforce what we are doing in class. Please return the homework in ziplock bag with the BOB Book...
PreK2 has PE with Coach Hasan on Mondays and Wednesdays, in sha Allah. If your child will be wearing boots, dress shoes, etc., on these days, please provide a pair of gym shoes for them to participate in PE comfortably.
Students will be having an outdoor recess when the temperature is 35 degrees or above (this includes wind chill temperatures). Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor recess. Although the temperature has warmed up in the past weeks, they will still need their sweater, sweatshirt, or jacket to be able to enjoy their outdoor recess. When the temperature and wind chill fall below 35 degrees (including the wind chill), students will be kept indoors. Requests for a student to stay inside based on health reasons will be honored.
CHANGE OF CLOTHING
Please provide an extra change of clothing for your child (top and bottom- weather appropriate, socks, underwear)... sometimes they may have accidents with a spill or other things... this also eliminates us calling you during the day to bring clothing items... jazakallahu khyran in advance.
SHOW & TELL
Show and Tell is weekly on Fridays, in sha Allah. WE HAVE 20 CHILDREN IN Prek2; please only bring one (1) item for your child to share with the class.
STUDENT ILLNESSES AND ABSENCES:
If your child will not be in attendance due to illness or any other reason, please notify us by email as well as the office by 9AM. To report an absence, parents should either call the school at 309-691-9089 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. Also, if your child will be late due to an early morning appointment, please bring a note from the doctor, so that the tardy may be excused.
Since the weather is constantly changing, please remember to keep your child at home if they have:
· Fever greater than or equal to 100.5 degrees Fahrenheit: Children must stay home 24 hours after fever subsides. They are not to be given fever-reducing medication and sent to school. Your child will expose other students to the sickness as well.
· Heavy drainage (clear or discolored) from the mouth, nose, eyes, or ears
· Red discoloration to the whites of the eye(s)
· Skin rashes of any kind which have not been diagnosed by a doctor
· Severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or diarrhea during the previous night.
· A painful, red throat, even if fever is not present.
· A deep, hacking cough
· If your child becomes sick during the day, the office staff will contact you to pick them up.
LEAVING SCHOOL EARLY
Parents are also required to notify the teacher and the office if their children need to leave school early due to an appointment or any other reason. Advanced notification will allow the teacher time to prepare for your child’s departure from the class and reduce interruptions.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or send an email; if emails are sent Friday after 3:30 pm, I will reply on Monday morning, in sha Allah.
